I always had a dream to do hosting and always fascinated by RJ’s DJ’s Then the wonderful opportunity comes in my life in a form of project named “Gender Sensitization and Women Empowerment in Agriculture Sector” In this project Aurat foundation and USAID give me a marvelous way to depict myself. I worked in this project as an Advocacy Campaign Facilitator.
In this project I conducted a Radio Program named “Hum-Qadam” which is aired on UAF official FM 100.4. The song of HUM-QADAM is also written and composed by me. In this radio program 75 highly qualified guests are invited from every walk of life to share their views and experiences on the topic named “Gender Sensitization and Women Empowerment in Agriculture Sector.
By this radio I felt that many people are reluctant to talk about different gender regarding issues. In the beginning I was also reluctant to talk about gender but with the passage of time it built confidence in me to talk about gender issues. This radio program creates linkages with different academic and civil personals.
Through this project I get experience how to talk about gender in civil society. In this Radio Program total 72 programs are conducted. Due to this radio program I interact with Doctors, Psychiatrists, Deans/Heads and Principals from different Institutes, Professors, Head of Women Empowerment Faisalabad, Member of Pakistan Human Right Parliamentarian, SSP Range Traffic, MD WASA and many other highly qualified persons from every field.
Guests from every walk of life share his/her views, knowledge, work and experiences regarding gender issues. One of the guests who is Dean in Faculty of Veterinary Science, UAF said that “Females should not think that after higher studies only official jobs can be taken instead of these home-based food barter systems should be encouraged. Educated females should use their education to increase their home business whether it is kitchen gardening, cattle farming etc. in order to increase food security in Pakistan”
One of the Renowned Psychiatrist from Faisalabad said that “Pakistan is advancing towards a big demographic bombshell, in which are getting more professional education and they are get married to uneducated male counterparts, leading to unrest and depression in whole society”
One of the rape survivals also shared with us about the whole story how she was affected by rape by her neighbor and her mother refused to accept it. Then she highlights that how her employer helped her to successfully arise from that trauma.
Chairman Zila District Faisalabad told us about different programs for the development of rural women like silai karhai center, computer training, beauty parlor training etc.
The District Coordinator of Faisalabad suggested that every Government Institute is working to make this society gender friendly. He told us that Punjab Government is giving free home-based entrepreneurship training to poor females and they are also gi ving live animals to all widow females so that they can earn their own living.
Besides HUM-QADAM, I also conducted different radio programs on Health and Nutritional Disorders.
